Description of Task |
Crossdocking |
Tools Required |
PC/Mac/Table Device with Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera web browser |
Notes |
For the PHASE ALPHA release of https://terminal.clockworkdelivery.com, the crossdocking function is limited to crossdocking 1 full trailer to another 1 empty trailer. There is no change in the cargo / load information from the inbound trailer to the outbound trailer. The workaround steps for this are described in step 2. The ability to crossdock many trailers to 1 trailer and vice versa, will be developed in a future phase.

Key Points |
1 |
Initiating the Crossdock Workflow |
- In gated loaded trailer records that have been flagged as trailers to be crossdocked, will have the blue crossdock icon
- After the crossdock icon is clicked, the crossdock form will open
|
2 |
Viewing the Crossdock Form |
- Once the crossdock form is open, the following fields will already be generated with values (please note that these can be edited).
- INBOUND Container # - will contain the trailer number that was recorded at the time of in gate
- INBOUND Load Information – lists the load record(s) that were present at the time of in gating the current trailer.
- OUTBOUND Load Information – lists the load record(s) that were recorded in the inbound trailer at the time of in gating.
Please note that the load information entered on the Outbound can be edited. You can change the quantity of the current commodity being crossdocked. Or, if there is cargo that is loading from another inbound trailer or from inventory already at the facility, this can be indicated in the General Comments field (indicated by blue circle).

Updating the Crossdock Form |
- Under INBOUND CONTAINER, input the door number the inbound trailer is docked at.
- Under INBOUND CONTAINER, if the trailer is a Federal asset and needs to be returned, tick the “Mark Container As Return” box (see below screenshot). If this is ticked, the status will automatically trigger to “Inactive – Crossdock Return”. This means that this container will NOT be available for dispatch. Also, please note that the trailer does not have to create a transport order for this trailer to be dispatched with the status “Inactive-Crossdock Return”.
- Under OUTBOUND CONTAINER, select the available empty trailer from the drop down that has been in gated.
- Under OUTBOUND CONTAINER, input the door number the outbound trailer is docked at (where contents of inbound trailer need to be moved).
- Under OUTBOUND CONTAINER, verify the Quantity/Unit of Measure (Uom) that is loading into the outbound trailer. The Quantity and Uom can be edited, if required.
Please note that the load information entered on the Outbound can be edited. You can change the quantity of the current commodity being crossdocked. Or, if there is cargo that is loading from another inbound trailer or from inventory already at the facility, this can be indicated in the General Comments field (indicated by blue circle).
- If the outbound trailer is not yet ready to be dispatched, click on the blue “Save and Exit” button. The crossdock record has been saved and you can dispatch the outbound trailer when ready (refer to the Creating Dispatch Orders work instructions).
- If the outbound trailer is ready to be dispatched, then
- click on the blue “Save and Dispatch” button. This will automatically open the Dispatch Form with the data that has already been recorded for the outbound trailer.
- Update the rest of the Dispatch Form as required (refer to the Creating Dispatch Orders work instructions)

- Once a crossdock has been recorded, in the Asset Screen:
- You will be able see the association between the inbound and outbound trailers under the CrossDock Association column.
- The Inbound and Outbound Doors will also be populated.
- The status will change:
- If the inbound trailer is marked as “To Be Returned”, the status “Inactive-Crossdock Return” will be displayed and the Outbound Trailer will display the status of “Active-Loaded/Available” (see below)
- If the inbound trailer is NOT marked as “To Be Returned” in the Crossdock form, the status “Active-Empty/Available” will be displayed and the Outbound Trailer will display the status of “Active-Loaded/Available”.
